Sexually transmitted diseases or std as these are called can have multiple causes and different symptoms. These infections can be transmitted through sexual contact such as vaginal intercourse, oral and anal sex along with close skin contact. Many of these diseases often do not display any initial symptoms. However some of the common std symptoms can help in identifying the diseases. Some common std symptoms may include itching in the regions around the genital areas such as the vagina among women. Such itching may also be accompanied with vaginal discharge in some cases. In men penile discharge may be experienced. Along with such discharge individuals suffering from possible std problems may also experience pain while urinating and also during sex. Pain in pelvis is also one of the common std symptoms. Those individuals who have indulged in oral sex and have possibly contracted a std may experience soreness in their throat. Those who have indulged in anal sex and have possibly got a std problem may experience pain around the anal region. Chancre sores is often one of the most common std symptoms. These are basically painless red sores that are often observed in regions near the genital areas such as in areas near the anus, vagina and penis along with regions of the throat or the tongue. Likewise some individuals suffering from std may encounter a scaly rash particularly on the palms of the hand and this rash may also be seen on the soles of the feet. Other common std symptoms include urine that is dark in color along with light colored stools and skin and eyes that are yellow. In many patients suffering from a particular type of std blisters may be observed in the genital areas and these blisters may scab over with time. People suffering from std may also experience swelling of lymph nodes along with fever and body ache. Common std symptoms may also include fatigue that cannot be explained, unusual infections, weight loss and night sweats. In some cases flesh colored soft warts are observed in the genital areas. Symptoms of std may be subtle in some cases and quite obvious in others. Increased frequency of urination and testicular pain among men may also be one of the symptoms of a possible std problem. Other symptoms associated with these diseases may include bleeding following sexual intercourse, discomfort in the genital areas, nausea along with vomiting, muscle and joint pain, loss of appetite, abdominal pain etc. For correct treatment of the std problem it is crucial that the correct diagnosis is made. |
