HPV Warts

Hpv warts refer to the warts caused by the human papillomavirus and include genital warts. These warts are located in areas near the genital regions and in women these may include areas such as the vagina, vulva, cervix and the anus. In men these warts may be observed in regions like the scrotum, penis and the anus.

These hpv warts are basically growths or bumps that may be raised or flat and may be small or large in size. These warts may be flesh colored or even whitish. In many cases these warts may not be visible to the naked eye. Likewise in many cases individuals may have warts by may not be ware of them.

Hpv warts or genital warts are caused by some types of hpv virus. There are more than 100 hpv viruses totally but around 30 types are responsible for causing genital warts. The genital warts can spread from one person to another through sexual contact and this includes vaginal, anal and oral sex. In rare cases the warts may be transmitted from a mother to her newborn child.

Hpv warts including genital warts cannot be passed on through use of towels, toilet seat or doorknobs. The warts caused by the hpv infection do not itch or hurt and so people may not even notice the warts. Diagnosis of this condition can be done through examination of the skin with the help of magnifying glasses.

The hpv infection can also be diagnosed through a Pap smear and a few other tests. In the presence of warts the virus is likely to more active and contagious. In many cases of genital warts the warts tend to disappear even in the absence of treatment. Using condoms may provide limited degree of protection as the virus can spread through those areas of the genitals that are not covered by condom.

Treatment of the hpv warts is based on some things as the location of the warts, their size and number. Some of the warts can be removed by using special medicines that the patient can apply. In some other cases the doctor may freeze the warts by using laser or a special chemical can be used to remove them.
