Std refers to sexually transmitted diseases and these are the infections or diseases that can be contracted if a person has sex with an infected individual. Such diseases are transmitted through vaginal or anal intercourse along with direct skin contact and oral sex. There are a number of female and male std infections and these include such infections as HIV, herpes, hepatitis, HPV, gonorrhea, syphilis and Chlamydia.

Std may be caused if a person has unprotected sex with another infected individual and a person is particularly at risk if he has multiple sexual partners. There are some peculiar symptoms that point towards possible female and male std. These symptoms include itching in the genital regions, penile discharge in men along with pain during urination.

In male std the man may also experience pain in the pelvic region along with pain following intercourse. Those men having sex with other men may experience pain around the anus. Chancre sores may be seen in the genital areas and in some cases std scaly rashes may be observed on the palms along with the soles of the feet.

In some male std diseases like herpes sores are observed in regions of the face like the lips, mouth, gums and also in genital areas like the shaft and glans region of the penis. Other symptoms associated with a std infection include dark colored urine, yellow skin and eyes and light stools. Many people suffering from stds also experience swelling of the lymph nodes.

Some people may also suffer from unusual infection and experience excessive fatigue along with weight loss and night sweats. In other forms of male std the concerned individual may get warts near the genital areas and these warts may be soft and flesh colored. Symptoms of gonorrhea in men include penile discharge which is cloudy, thick and foul smelling. The person may also experience a burning sensation during urination along with abdominal or testicular pain.

Men suffering from Chlamydia may experience penile discharge along with a burning sensation during urination. They may also experience itching near the penile opening. Men may also experience bloody discharge and defecation may also become painful in some cases. Without treatment gonorrhea can result in some severe problems like lowered sperm count and possible erectile dysfunction.

In a male std like chancroid the sexually exposed portions of a person’s skin are affected. So this infection is seen on the penis but may also be observed in region near the anus and the mouth. In this tender bumps that erupt in ulcers are observed. Soreness of lymph glands may also be observed. Lymphogranulum venereum is another genital disease that results in tenderness in the glands in the groin region.

This condition often affects homosexual men and results in anal inflammation along with infrequent bowel movements. In syphilis painless ulcers in areas such as the mouth, penis and the anal region may be observed. Along with this swelling of the lymph nodes near the ulcers is also observed. This may be followed with skin rash.

In men urethritis may also be observed and this male std results in inflammation of urethra. In this men may be experience a burning sensation during urination and it may be followed with a watery discharge from the penis. Tenderness along with pain in the testicles may also be experienced along with development of abscess in some cases.
