Std as the name suggests refers to sexually transmitted disease and any sexually active individual can suffer from this problem. Stds are rather common among young people as they tend to be sexually active and so are at greater risk. The common symptoms in these diseases may include blisters and sores around a person’s genital areas or in the mouth. These blisters may be accompanied with burning sensation during urination. Many people suffering from stds also experience penile or vaginal discharge.

The symptoms of stds may include pain, burning or itching around the genital areas accompanied with pain in the abdomen or the pelvic area. In some cases bleeding not related with menstrual bleeding may also be experienced. In the event of these symptoms it is advisable for individuals to seek professional help right away.

Since an std infection is most frequently passed on through sexual activities it is advisable to avoid sex if the sexual history of the partner is not known. If a person does decide to indulge in sex then it is advisable to have a single partner and both individuals should remain faithful to each other. As per std information it is advisable to refrain from indulging in sexual contact if any possible symptoms of std are observed.

Using latex condoms during vaginal, oral and anal sex is important as it offers protection against stds. Douche can also result in the germs travelling further into the vagina and so should be avoided. There are some tests that can identify std infection but no test is completely accurate. It is advisable for any person who is exposed to an std infection to disclose this to their partner.

A person exposed to std infection should also get their partner tested. It is also advisable to avoid sex till the health provider indicates that the infection has been cured. Without treatment some stds can result in severe consequences such as pelvic inflammatory diseases resulting in infertility and other stds can also be fatal. Correcting std information can help in ensuring that people become aware of these infections and they are not transmitted.
